Katy Perry, one of the judges on American Idol, was booed by the live audience in Hawaii during a recent episode.
The Hot N Cold singer was booed for her criticism of contestant Nutsa Buzaladze. Perry suggested that Buzaladze tone down her performances, which are often overly energetic and glittery.
“Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it’s like you glitter bomb the stage,” Perry advised the American Idol Top 26 contestant.
“Listen, I think one thing I’d like to see from you the next time is not a single piece of glitter.” I know it’s going to be difficult.”
Despite the negative reaction from the audience, Perry stood firm in her criticism, explaining that she wanted to see a different side of Buzaladze’s artistry, according to ET.
“OK, first time in six seasons, woo hoo,” she said dismissively, brushing off the taunts. She then explained what she meant to Buzaladze. “What I mean is, I’d like you to flip the script.” I believe we, too, want to be drawn in by our hearts. I’d like to see that, and I believe America would as well.”
However, contestant Buzaladze admitted that she has a lot of energy during her performances and needs to work on balancing it out.
