It’s time to put away those summer needs and start thinking about October essentials as summer comes to an end, the days become shorter, and the temperature drops.
You’re in luck since Marc Jacobs recently launched his Heaven autumn 2022 collection, which features models such Doja Cat, Charli XCX, Pamela Anderson, Dev Hynes, Kyle MacLachlan, and others from the world of popular culture.
It is only right that the top figures in all those fields come together to bring these looks to life as the Heaven line was designed to be a crossroads of film, art, TV, and fashion. The ad was styled by Danielle Emerson, who has previously worked with the company, and was photographed by Harley Weir.
This isn’t the first time Marc Jacobs has organised a launch with so many celebrities. The first Heaven collection, which featured notable performers Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert, and Sky Ferreira, debuted in 2020 and set the stage for retro fashion trends.
This time around, Heaven draws inspiration from both modern style and nostalgia for the 1990s. To realise that idea, Marc Jacobs worked with artists such as Eri Wakiyama, Mimi Wade, Wong Kar-Wai, Online Ceramics, Claire Barrow, Will Sheldon, and Elliot Shields.
Baby shirts, mini-dresses, and mini-skirts, as well as oversized jeans and hoodies, all have a ’90s impact on their design.
In some vibrant and eccentric costumes for this collection, the stars display their off-screen and off-stage personality. The collection has oversized sweatshirts and bottoms, low rise bottoms, and vibrant tiny dresses.
Bright blues and greens, as well as deeper browns and subdued greys, are included in the fall 2022 collection.
Doja is shown wearing a colourful minidress with watercolor-inspired details as well as a plaid green miniskirt and a white and pink baby t-shirt. The usage of watercolour and acrylic by Eri Wakiyama, which can be seen on t-shirts, dresses, and jewellery, served as inspiration for some of the painting-like pieces.
Pamela Anderson continues to evoke nostalgia for the 1990s in a monotone grey miniskirt and top with a white lace accent. Even the jewellery screams the 1990s, with friendship rings and large earrings that combine avant-garde style with the naivety of youth.
