Madelyn Cline’s 2023 Oscars After Party Makeup Is A Study In The ‘Soft Girl Spring’ Aesthetic

As the days lengthen, the flowers begin to bloom, and the temperatures rise, wool coats give way to trench coats, blowouts give way to natural air-dried textures, and charcoal smoky eyes and vampy lipsticks make way for subtle shimmery and sheer makeup. The shift in makeup aesthetics can also be seen on the red carpet. Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline‘s bronzy makeup look at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party epitomises the’soft girl spring’ aesthetic that is so popular on TikTok.

“I wanted to make the look sultry but subtle with bronze skin and eyes — classic yet chic with a bronzy glow,” Jen Tioseco, the star’s makeup artist, tells TZR exclusively. “After seeing her green Givenchy dress, I wanted to keep the makeup simple with cool girl vibes so the dress could speak for itself.”

Tioseco spent an extra hour prepping Cline’s skin for the glowy makeup look. She used Chantecaille’s Bio Lifting Serum+ on the actor’s skin before applying foundation, along with steaming the skin, a series of face masks, and facial tools. “I like this serum because it leaves a smooth, hydrated base before applying foundation,” says the makeup artist.

Then, for an even, illuminated complexion with a second-skin finish, she applied the brand’s red carpet-favorite Future Skin Foundation. “I love Future Skin for a variety of reasons, but the most important is that it keeps the skin looking like skin while still providing excellent coverage,” Tioseco says. “My trick is to use a buffing brush and press it into the skin for areas that require more coverage.”

Tioseco prepped Cline’s lids with the Next Generation Eye Base Primer before applying the bronze smoky eye to ensure the look lasted all night. She then used the Wild Meadows Eye Quartet’s shimmer and matte shades to create the soft smoky eye, and finished with a few coats of the Faux Cils Mascara.

Finally, a warm apricot lip completed the look. “I wanted Maddie’s lips to look hydrated and plump but colorful, so I finished this monochromatic peachy look with what may be my new favourite lipstick — the Wild Meadows Lip Chic in Carpathia,” Tioseco says.

Cline’s hairstylist Danielle Priano went with a soft textured high ponytail, achieved with Bellami hair extensions and Function of Beauty hair care products, to fully embrace the soft girl vibe. The brand’s Soft Bounce Texturizing Hair Spray was used to achieve the lived-in, effortless texture.

Tiosecio says she and Cline simply have fun with her look when getting ready for a big night like the Oscars. “For the first 15 minutes, it’s honestly just a group of girls in a room throwing ideas around,” she says of creating the final red carpet look. “We all pull out our inspiration and agree on an overall look that works best!”

The mission was completed.
