Tig Notaro and Emma Watson Will Play Pickleball On Teevee

It’s a lovely autumn day! In less than a week, you all helped us reach our fundraising goal! And this morning, I was able to get one of the cats in my feral colony in for some much-needed vet care! It’s looking like a good Wednesday! Here’s your Pop Culture Fix for the Middle of the Week!

Tig Notaro recently posted a photo of herself dressed up in a pickleball outfit, complete with a green 80s headband! I thought she was just playing around — but no! She’s entered the celebrity pickleball tournament, which will air on CBS and be hosted by Stephen Colbert. Also taking part? Emma Watson, Aisha Tyler, June Diane Raphael, and Kelly Rowland are among the cast members. (Plus a lot of boys, boring.) For my part, I’ll be watching this like it’s the World Series! Here’s the official CBS description: “‘We built the Thunderdome of pickleball and made the most of the smallest sport we could find,” says executive producer K.P. Anderson. Colbert sings the national anthem with Kenny Loggins (they rehearsed harmonies the night before at a cantina), then eight teams of two compete for the Colbert Cup.”

The Ultimatum: Queer Love on Netflix is a real thing! It’s a spin-off of a reality show hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, but JoAnna Garcia Swisher will host the queer version (who is straight, as far as I can tell from the Personal Life section of her Wikipedia). I think it would have been a huge mistake to have Niecy Nash-Betts and Jessica Betts host a reality show!

This Halloween, Keke Palmer and Javicia Leslie’s X-Men cosplay was legendary.

The Weather Channel was also impressed. (Natalie: “Aww, that’s cute. But wait your turn, Weather Channel!)

Mr. Schue on Glee was apparently written for Justin Timberlake? Is this show going to follow us until the day we die? (Related: Ryan Murphy is irritated) Dahmer’s “LGBTQ tag” was removed by Netflix.)

Alia Shawkat has joined the Severance cast for season two.

Catalyst, the game’s first playable transgender woman, will be released in Apex Legends.

The AV Club has chosen the top 20 Arrowverse characters. I’m excited to hear what you think of this list.

Danielle Radcliffe says speaking out against JK Rowling was important to him because he wants queer and trans people to know that everyone in the Harry Potter franchise does NOT agree with her horrifying descent into anti-trans radicalism.

He claims that if he had remained silent, he would not have been able to look at himself in the mirror.

Sue Perkins spoke with Vulture about her new travel special.
