Ana De Armas Replaces Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Ana de Armas has already demonstrated her ability to transform from a beautiful brunette to a bombshell hot blonde, as she did in Andrew Dominike’s Blonde, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. DC fans can now stop wondering what she would look like as another famous blonde woman because AI art posted to GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT’s Instagram page shows what de Armas would look like if she took over the role of Harley Quinn from Margot Robbie.

While Ana de Armas is not officially part of the DC universe, fans have voted to include her. GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT recently asked our followers on Twitter who they wanted to see as the next Wonder Woman, and the results showed de Armas as the clear winner over Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and any other actress. Now, it appears that the actress would be a fantastic choice to play DC’s next Harley Quinn, once Margot Robbie is done with the role.

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Margot Robbie appears to have abandoned the DC Universe in pursuit of other projects, but rumour has it she isn’t done playing the crazy blonde psychiatrist just yet, despite the fact that The Wolf of Wallstreet actress has kept busy since wrapping on Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad, the last films in which she played Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie starred in two major blockbusters named Babylon and Amsterdam in 2022. (both of which, unfortunately, turned out to be major critical flops). And the actress is currently working on three projects: Mattel’s Barbie with Ryan Gosling, Asteroid City with Tom Hanks, and an untitled Ocean’s Eleven project with Gosling alongside the I, Tonya actress.

Despite having a lot on her plate right now, DC’s head honcho, James Gunn, has stated that he fully expects Margot Robbie to return to the studio and reprise her role as Harley Quinn. Gunn did, however, confirm Robbie’s return via Twitter (though it wasn’t official), and he did so six months ago, so anything could have changed since then. Gunn hadn’t even been officially inducted into his position at the time, and he has since made numerous changes to the DC roster, including the departure of several actors who fans had expected to return (yes, we are still butthurt about the whole Henry Cavill fiasco).

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

While Margot Robbie is expected to return at some point, Ana de Armas appears to have a good shot at playing the iconic DC role. Even if Robbie returns to the DCU, de Armas has other options for playing the character. Since 2019, Kaley Cuoco has been playing an animated version of the psychiatrist-turned-psycho in Harley Quinn, and Lady Gaga is currently filming for the Joker sequel, where she will play the infamous girlfriend of the Joker in the new musical.

Harley Quinn is a character that has been played or voiced by dozens of actresses over the course of more than 30 years. To put it bluntly, she is legendary. But part of what makes her iconic is how these actresses have added new layers to the character over the years as she’s been played in various ways. While Margot Robbie has done an excellent job as Harley Quinn in the DC Universe, we have no doubt that if Ana de Armas ever decided to try on Harley Quinn, she would absolutely slay.
