Bella Hadid deleted an Instagram post from Balenciaga after the fashion house apologised for their bondage-themed campaign that featured a child.
The luxury fashion label issued a statement in response to the photoshoot that featured a child holding a teddy bear dressed in a BDSM outfit.
The 26-year-old supermodel took to Instagram to share a series of campaign photos with her 56.4 million followers before quickly deleting them.
Balenciaga appeared to blame the controversial campaign on Italian photographer Gabriele Galimberti on Wednesday.
According to the statement: “We sincerely apologise for any offence caused by our holiday campaign. In this campaign, our plush bear bags should not have been seen with children. We removed the campaign from all platforms right away.
“We sincerely apologise for including disturbing documents in our campaign. We take this matter very seriously and are pursuing legal action against those responsible for designing the set and including unapproved items in our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot.
“We strongly condemn all forms of child abuse. We advocate for the safety and well-being of children.”
One of the photos in the shoot contained an excerpt from the 2008 US Supreme Court opinion in United States v. Williams, which upheld a portion of a federal law.
“I documented the spontaneous and natural joy that unites children from Texas to India, Malawi to China, Iceland, Morocco, and Fiji. The child’s pride is moving, funny, and thought provoking, whether they own a veritable fleet of miniature cars or a single stuffed monkey.”
Bella wore a $10,000 office ensemble from Balenciaga’s new spring collection in the photoshoot she posted before deleting it.
Throughout the campaign, she alternated between showing off her natural brunette locks and wearing a platinum blonde wig.
