Selena Gomez’s red-hot Moulin Rouge makeover is taking over the internet

During Fashion Week, Selena Gomez took over Paris, effortlessly mastering everything from her ethereal floating liner to nailing the French-girl look. A makeup look created by MUA Avia Solomon is the latest addition to her repertoire of stunning looks. It pays homage to the Belle Époque era and is reminiscent of the vibrant aesthetics seen in the beloved 2001 musical film Moulin Rouge.

Solomon created a romantic red and pink eye and lip combination that echoed the rich and decadent atmosphere of the iconic Parisian cabaret, using only Rare Beauty products.

The star of the show was Selena Gomez’s lips, which were adorned with a show-stopping “Elephant Love Medley” red lipstick. Solomon finished the glamorous look with brushed-up brows and a hint of highlighter.

The sophisticated updo by hairstylist Dom Seeley is not to be missed. Fans speculated that the updo, which featured delicate twists resembling petals and evoked a romantic and slightly burlesque aesthetic, was inspired by the watercolour flower tattoo covering the base of Gomez’s neck.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieving the look:

Step 1: As a base, apply a rose pink eyeshadow to your lids, ensuring full coverage and extending the colour up towards the brow bone.

Step 2: Define the crease with a darker reddish-pink eyeshadow to add depth and a sultry effect. Blend the colours together smoothly for a smooth transition.

Step 3: Draw a precise winged liner on the upper lids, extending it past the outer corners to add drama. Extend the liner to the lower lash line for added drama.

Step 4: Finish the look with a reddish-pink blush on your cheeks and a dramatic red lip.

Step 5: Begin by blow-drying the hair sleekly in the direction of the desired bun position. This step ensures that the foundation for the updo is neat and polished.

Step 6: Gather the hair into a high ponytail and brush it back just below the crown of the head. Tightly grip the ponytail in place.

Step 7: Start twisting and pinning the ponytail in sections to create a rounded and prominent shape at the front. For added elegance, allow the back to cascade closer to the head.

Step 8: For a fashionable touch, incorporate an intricate detail at the back of the bun. This may entail twisting a section of hair into an unusual shape or pattern.

Step 9: Pin the bun in place and check that all twists are secure. You can use a hair spray to add shine and keep baby hair in place.
