‘Backr00ms’ by Playboi Carti and Travis Scott is out now

Playboi Carti has released his first new song of 2024, collaborating with Travis Scott on the single ‘Backr00ms’ – listen to it below.

The new track, which was released yesterday (January 1), was initially announced by the two on Monday morning.

Scott released a quick footage of British rapper Blackhaine saying “New music.” on his Instagram feed. Carti. Travis Scott is a musician. “I’m dropping [bleep] today,” he said, his face obscured by a stretched image of the parental advisory sign.

The new song is accompanied by a new music video, which features the two rappers performing in a garage alongside views of a lifeless office environment where Carti lavishes money on a dancer.

“In the middle of the field, throw me a bomb / I’m throwin’ that bih like a quarterback / Standin’ in the field, holdin’ a bomb / Throwin’ that ho like a quarterback,” Carti proclaims in the chorus. Listen to the song below.

Carti’s fourth collaboration with Travis Scott follows ‘Fein,’ which appeared on the latter’s ‘Utopia’ album, as well as the 2018 track ‘Love Hurts’ and 2017’Green & Purple.

Carti’s new single appears to be the first taste of his long-awaited new album. The upcoming LP, titled ‘Music,’ will be the rapper’s first full-length release since 2020’s ‘Whole Lotta Red,’ which included Future, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi.

Carti has since collaborated with ABRA on the 2021 single ‘Unlock It,’ Trippie Redd on the song ‘Miss The Rage,’ and most recently on ‘Popular,’ which he shared and also features Madonna and The Weeknd.

In other Carti news, the rapper is due to kick off the US leg of his ‘Antagonist’ tour in Salt Lake City later this month (January 14), after the original series of performances was cancelled in September.
