Erik ten Hag of Manchester United has been accused of ‘disrespecting’ Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha claims that Erik ten Hag has “disrespected” Cristiano Ronaldo this season.

United drew 0-0 with Newcastle at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Ten Hag giving Ronaldo only his second Premier League start of the season. The 37-year-old has mostly been used to lead the Reds’ line in the Europa League, as he has struggled for minutes at home.

Ronaldo was given his second league start this weekend after assisting his teammates to score the game-winning goal against Everton in their previous meeting at Goodison Park.

However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner failed to make another significant contribution as the Reds were unable to break the deadlock past Nick Pope.

Ronaldo was replaced in the 72nd minute by Marcus Rashford, who appeared frustrated when the substitution was announced. Ten Hag, who managed Saha at Real Madrid, has now claimed that he missed a trick by not leaving him on the pitch for longer.

“Ronaldo has been disrespected,” Saha told BoyleSports Premier League betting. “I have not fully agreed with Ten Hag’s management. I can understand why Ronaldo was upset after the Newcastle game because he trusts himself to score, but lately, he has not been as lucky and efficient, and it shows.”

“When people are tired, Ronaldo is a killer; there is no one better than him when you are under pressure to score important goals; he did it last year, and there is no reason for him not to do it again this season, and I haven’t seen any physical indication that he’s slowing down.”
